Makli Restaurant

They have courteous delivery people who know how to use a building intercom. The food on arrival is still warm. This has too often not been my experience. Some restaurants I've ordered from have delivery people who don't know how to ring a building or even find the door.

Makli is our new go-to for Chinese delivery. The egg tofu dish is incredibleI wish they put more in each one! One thing we love about Makli is that most of the veggie dishes are not greasy (we don't tend to order meat). The eggplant is oily, but that's true everywhere (and probably what makes it so damn good). Only criticism: the containers they use are mainly flat, flimsy ones. When full of hot food and stacked on top of one another in a bag, they get soft and can leak or even collapse. Would really prefer they stick to stronger containers, maybe the classic takeout boxes?

BF and I order regularly from Makli and have never had a bad experience. Their chinese food is yum, portions are good, and the delivery is FAST (like sometimes 20 minutes, never more than 40--we live a few blocks away.) The delivery guy is always friendly. Mongolian beef is delish, dumplings with lamb/parsley is a good appetizer. I like the thick chewy noodles in their chowmein and the house friend rice is always a good choice. We tend to order any of the meat entrees that are not fried and they have all been good. Sometimes the wonton soup varies somewhat in flavor.

Fresh, hot, fast, flavorful -- the best home-delivered Chinese I have enjoyed in ten years. The restaurant called to verify a preference, and then the completed order appeared within ten minutes. Most noteworthy was the fresh flavorful meat (chicken, beef) and the vegetables (broccoli especially). Even the rice (both brown and white) was done correctly -- not sticky, with full flavor. Recommended!
